Denmark

After our time in Albany we went to Denmark, the town in WA, not the Country in Europe. We were recommended a Farm Stay near Denmark which we loved, thanks Mark! ‘Sunset on the Hill’ a small sheep farm was complete with its own dam full of yabbies and marron. They supplied nets which we were free to use to catch as much as we liked, and there were a lot! There were also kayaks and a fun paddle boat which the kids loved paddling around on.

The farm felt strangely familiar as we walked through the landscape and explored the scenery. We camped in the paddock with sheep all around and a huge flock of geese that welcomed us at sunset every night. It felt very much like home.

We visited the township which reminded us of the early days of Byron Bay. Not over developed and plenty of cool shops to wander through. We were struck by how green it was and the intimate feel of the town. It has the greatest IGA ever with so many pre prepared meals which made lunch super easy on our first day there.

We explored the are with so many beautiful spots to choose from. Greens Pool is a pristine natural rock pool located within William Bay National Park, just a short drive from Denmark. We drove to Greens Pool on our second day in Denmark, we were greeted by a mesmerising sight: crystal-clear turquoise waters framed by towering granite boulders. The sheltered pool offers a safe and serene swimming experience, making it ideal for families and nature enthusiasts alike. We  loved our time basking in the beauty of Greens Pool, immersing ourselves in the refreshing waters and marvelling at the surrounding scenery. We enjoyed jumping off the rocks and exploring the beach.

It was a real bonus to catch up with my cousin Ashley while in Denmark. He recently moved to Denmark from Fremantle. He’s such a character. He has spent a lot of time living on boats and deep see diving for treasures. It’s always so fascinating catching up with him and hearing about all of his adventures and new business ideas. His latest project is Neptune’s Weed, a sustainably farmed seaweed snack. He grows it in the Abrolhos Islands in WA and its tasty as!

Another highlight was the visit to Boston Brewery. Breweries in Victoria are so young compared to some breweries in WA. The breweries in WA felt so much more refined and mature, like a well kept old wine. Boston brewery was no exception. The outdoor dining space was perfect with lots of play equipment close by for the kids to enjoy. I enjoyed sampling some of their Ales and the pizza is some of the best Ive ever had!
