Bremer Bay

We have spent the last 4 days at Bremer Bay. the Bremer Bay caravan park was a ripper of a spot. The park was massive and just a stone’s throw away from some of the most beautiful beaches we’ve ever seen.

We spent most of our days exploring the local beaches, and they did not disappoint. The crystal-clear blue waters and white sandy beaches were like something out of a dream. One affernoon, we floated down the beautiful estuary, and it was an absolute highlight of our trip so far. We didn’t have a worry in the world as we drifted along the clear waters laughing with each other.

Zach and I went off road on our bikes to explore the landscape up close.

As we were exploring the area, we noticed a massive wind turbine towering over the town. We found out that the turbine generates a significant portion of the town’s power supply, which is a fantastic use of renewable energy.

The turbine stands at over 80 meters tall and is an impressive sight to see. We learned that it generates up to 2.5 megawatts of power and can supply up to 1,500 homes with electricity. It’s great to see a small community like Bremer Bay taking advantage of renewable energy sources and working towards a more sustainable future.

We also learned that the town is working on a microgrid system, which will allow them to generate, store, and distribute their own electricity. The system will use a combination of wind, solar, and battery storage to power the town, making them less reliant on the main power grid.

It’s fantastic to see a small community like Bremer Bay taking steps towards a more sustainable future and using renewable energy sources to power their homes. If you’re in the area, make sure to take a look at the impressive wind turbine and see for yourself how it’s contributing to the local power supply. It shows that a decentralised energy system can be achieved, something the Eastern States, particularly Voctoria need to seriously adopt.

On Australia Day, we went to the local park for the celebrations and it was a classic Australia Day, which was actually quite comforting. The community had organised a fantastic event, and it was great to see everyone coming together to celebrate the local achievements. The best part was definitely the free bacon and egg rolls, which were an absolute delight.

All in all, our time in Bremer Bay was an absolute blast. The beaches were stunning and so enjoyable. I know I sound like a broken record with the description of these beaches but you must experience them for yourself.
