Helpful Information
-
Each child has their own learner profile, tailored to their year level and aligned with their selected curriculum. Families can explore locations anywhere in the world and turn the places they visit and the experiences they share into meaningful, curriculum-aligned learning activities. Activities are inspired by real-world experiences, making education engaging, relevant and accessible.
Families can choose to plan ahead for their next adventure by discovering educational attractions, tours and learning experiences before they arrive. This feature helps families uncover new opportunities for learning at their next destination, making it easier to combine education with exploration.
Activities are automatically saved to each learner's profile, allowing families to close the app, return anytime and continue learning at their own pace. This flexibility means activities can be completed over time, giving children the opportunity to explore, investigate and learn without needing to finish everything in one sitting.
Parents can assess their child's learning by reviewing completed work, identifying areas for improvement and receiving feedback on skills that may need further development. Families can then generate targeted English and Maths activities to practise specific skills, strengthen understanding and support ongoing learning progress.
As activities are completed, curriculum progress is automatically recorded within each learner's profile, making it easy to see what has been covered. Families can also download a PDF learning record containing curriculum details, completion dates and short descriptions of completed activities, providing a practical record of their child's educational journey.
The interactive map brings each child's learning journey to life by displaying the locations where activities have been completed. Families can follow their adventures, revisit previous learning destinations and explore new places, creating a visual record of where their experiences and learning have taken them.
Road Schooling brings together educational planning, exploration, curriculum-aligned activities, assessment and progress tracking in one convenient place. Created by educators for families, it provides the flexibility to make meaningful learning part of everyday adventures, whether travelling around the world or learning closer to home.

At Road Schooling, we understand how important your family's privacy is. We've designed the app to collect only the information needed to create personalised learning experiences, record educational progress and support your family's learning journey.
What information does Road Schooling collect?
To use Road Schooling, parents create an account and set up individual learner profiles. The app stores account information, each child's first name and year level, and the learning activities and locations families choose to record.
Are my child's details kept private?
Learner profiles and learning records are associated with the parent's account. The app uses account-based access controls to protect this information from other families.
Each learner profile uses one of our animal pictures, so there's no need to upload a personal photograph.
How does Road Schooling use AI?
Road Schooling uses artificial intelligence to generate educational activities, provide learning feedback and suggest educational experiences.
Only the information relevant to the requested feature is sent to our AI provider. This may include a selected location, year level, learning focus or description of an experience. Names, email addresses and phone numbers are not included in these AI requests.
What happens to photographs of schoolwork?
If you choose to upload a photograph of your child's schoolwork for assessment, the image is sent securely for AI processing to generate educational feedback.
Road Schooling does not save the original photograph to your learner's profile or database.
We recommend avoiding photographs that include your child's full name, face or other identifying information.
Does Road Schooling track our location?
Road Schooling records the locations you choose when completing learning activities. These locations help generate relevant activities and build a visual record of your family's learning journey on the interactive map.
The app does not need to continuously track your movements to create this learning record.
Who can access our learning records?
Your family's saved activities, curriculum progress and learner profiles are linked to your account. Other families cannot browse or access these records through the app.
You can also download PDF learning records directly to your device, allowing you to keep and share your child's educational progress as you choose.
Can I delete my information?
Road Schooling is designed to give families control over their learning information. Saved activities can be removed when they are no longer needed, and you can delete your account and all associated learning records at any time in the app.
Deleting an account is permanent and removes the learning information associated with that account from Road Schooling's active database.
Our Commitment to Your Family
Road Schooling is designed to support your child's education, not to collect unnecessary personal information. We aim to keep information collection limited, explain how AI is used and give families control over the learning experiences they choose to record.
For full details, including the services we use and where information is stored, read our Privacy Policy.

The assessment tool reads the work in your photo, so the clearer the photo, the more accurate the result. Before you upload, check that the whole page is visible, the writing is sharp, and nothing is covering the work.

At Road Schooling, we recommend a simple, flexible collection of learning tools to support meaningful, on-the-road education without overpacking or unnecessary resources.
Rather than relying on bulky textbooks or worksheets, we recommend each child travels with:
1 A4 Visual Art book (journaling, drawing, painting, etc).
1 A4 lined writing book (line spacing appropriate to the child’s age)
1 A4 grid lined maths book
Pens and pencils (for writing, sketching, and colouring)
Eraser and ruler
Watercolour paints and basic art supplies
These core items support literacy, numeracy, creative expression, observation, and documentation of learning experiences encountered while travelling. Whether children are journaling about a place they’ve visited, mapping distances, recording data, sketching landscapes, or responding to app-based activities, the Road Schooling Pack provides the tools they need.

Learning doesn’t need to be complex or time-consuming while travelling. Short, consistent routines woven into daily life help children stay connected to reading, writing, and communication while making the most of the rich experiences the road provides. The Road Schooling app helps support:
Daily Reading Time:
Set aside 15–20 minutes each day for reading. This can include books, eBooks, road signs, brochures, menus, or maps.
Daily reading builds fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. Reading real-world texts while travelling helps children see literacy as a practical life skill.
Travel Journaling
Children write or draw in a journal daily or a few times a week about places visited, people met, or experiences had.
Journaling supports writing stamina, spelling, sentence structure, and reflection. It also creates a meaningful record of learning and memories.
Shared Reading
Read aloud together as a family or take turns reading chapters.
Shared reading strengthens comprehension, models fluency, and supports reluctant or developing readers while creating connection and routine.
Oral Storytelling and Discussion
Encourage children to retell experiences, explain what they learned, or share stories during meals or travel time.
Strong oral language skills underpin reading and writing development. Talking through experiences builds vocabulary and comprehension.
Purposeful Writing Tasks
Write lists, postcards, emails, reviews of places visited, instructions, or short reports linked to real experiences.
Purposeful writing increases motivation and shows children that writing has real-world value beyond school tasks.
Regular Short Writing Sessions
Aim for short writing tasks (10–15 minutes) several times a week rather than long sessions.
Consistency builds confidence and stamina without overwhelming children or disrupting travel plans.
Reflection and Sharing
Invite children to share their writing or reading reflections with family members.
Sharing reinforces learning, builds pride, and helps children recognise their progress over time.
Flexible Reading Formats
Use a mix of physical books, eBooks, audiobooks, and podcasts.
Flexible formats support literacy on travel days and help maintain routines even when time or space is limited.
Keep It Consistent, Not Perfect
Focus on maintaining simple routines rather than replicating a traditional school day.
Consistency matters more than volume. Small, regular literacy moments add up to strong learning outcomes.
